Existing website takeover
WordPress website takeover: many businesses already have a website, just nobody to look after it. The developer who built it has moved on or gone quiet, the hosting invoice comes from someone you can no longer reach, and updates have not run for years. The site still works, it is just getting more vulnerable and slower, and there is nobody to call when something breaks. I take over your existing WordPress site: sort out the access, assess its condition in writing, and from then on you have someone to turn to. These requests usually come from businesses in Harghita County and the Székely Land, but I take sites over remotely as well.
Written condition report · Access sorted out · Backups and overdue updates · Hosting migration with no downtime · Monthly care from 250 RON
WordPress website takeover: when it is time to hand it to someone else
You do not have to wait until something breaks. Four signs, any one of them enough on its own: whoever built the site has not answered for weeks; no update has run in a year; you do not know where the backup is, or whether there is one; and you cannot touch your own content without asking someone.
Most often the developer has moved on: they took other work, switched technology, or simply do not do maintenance. That is fair enough; you just need someone to take it over.
How the takeover works
First we gather the access: domain, hosting, WordPress admin and, where they exist, the payment or courier accounts. This is usually the longest step, because these tend to scatter over the years.
Then comes the condition report. I check what version WordPress and the plugins are running, whether any of them carry known vulnerabilities or have been abandoned for years, whether backups actually work, how long the site takes to load, and whether search engines see it properly. You get a written report in plain language.
At the end of the report is the offer: what I recommend doing, for how much, and what can wait. Up to that point you are under no obligation, and the report is yours to keep even if you continue with someone else.
If you do not have the access details
This happens more often than you would think, and it is usually solvable. The domain owner can be identified from the public registration data, the hosting provider from the server, and both have an official route for proving ownership. That needs your company paperwork, not the goodwill of the previous developer.
If the domain is in someone else’s name and they will not cooperate, though, that is a legal matter, not a technical one. The realistic answer is then often a new domain and moving the site across. I can do that too, but I will tell you in advance that it means a step backwards in search.
What you get after the takeover
The takeover itself is one-off work, but the point comes afterwards: WordPress, the plugins and security patches need continuous updating. On a monthly care plan that runs tested, alongside a verified daily backup, uptime monitoring and a monthly report so you can see what happened to your site.
The basic plan is 250 RON a month. It is not compulsory: if you take on the maintenance yourself, I will show you what to watch for after the handover, and from then on it is entirely yours.
I do not take over every site
Sometimes patching costs more than rebuilding, and it is better said up front. A pirated or abandoned premium theme, a page builder plugin unsupported for years, or a custom engine with no documentation anywhere. With these every single fix is risky and the cost becomes unpredictable.
In those cases I will recommend a rebuild after the assessment and show you where the difference comes from. The price of the assessment does not change because of it.
