Every week someone asks me "how much do you charge for an online shop" – but the development price is only one item on the list. In this article I go through everything a working online store needs in Romania, what I take care of, and what you need to arrange or pay for yourself.
The development price: from 5,000 RON
A WooCommerce online shop starts at 5,000 RON with me. That includes the design, building the product catalogue with categories and variations, the cart and checkout, shipping methods, basic SEO and cookie consent. The final price depends on the number of products, custom features (stock management, multiple warehouses, B2B pricing) and the number of languages. Why WooCommerce and not Shopify is something I explained in a separate article.
What you need on your side (and what it costs)
- A registered business (PFA or SRL): an online shop cannot be run as a private individual, because of invoicing and tax.
- A card payment contract: Netopia, EuPlatesc or PayU – free to start, with a commission of a few percent per transaction. Cash on delivery comes on top of this as standard.
- A courier contract: Fan Courier, Sameday or Cargus – a business contract is considerably cheaper than the retail rate.
- Invoicing software: SmartBill or Oblio, on a monthly fee; the shop can generate the invoice automatically, and e-Factura can be handled too.
- Domain and hosting: a few hundred RON a year, and I help you choose.
- Product photos and descriptions: this takes the most time, and if they are not ready, the project slips.
Legal basics you cannot skip
A Romanian online shop needs terms and conditions (termeni și condiții), a privacy policy, cookie consent, information on the right of withdrawal (14 days), an ANPC link and the company details clearly visible on the site. I deliver these templates together with the shop, but it is worth having a lawyer check them against your specific activity.
How long does it take?
A shop with 50-100 products takes 4-8 weeks, provided the photos and descriptions are ready and the payment and courier contracts are under way. The most common cause of delay is late product data – so it pays to collect it in parallel while development is in progress.
What many people forget: after the launch
An online shop is not finished when it goes live: orders, stock, promotions, new products, updates. The maintenance package covers this from 250 RON/month, with 2 hours of changes included each month.
Next step
Tell me what you would sell, roughly how many products you have, and whether you already have payment and courier contracts. Based on that I will send you an exact quote within a day via the contact page.
