In short: Across 16 public packages from 6 Romanian providers, entry-level monthly SEO costs 500 to 3750 lei, with a median of 2475 lei. Pricier plans add more articles and bought links. For a small local business, the technical basics and the Google Business Profile come first, monthly SEO after that.
If you have received an SEO quote, or are about to ask for one, the first question is usually what SEO services cost in practice. In September 2026 I collected the public price lists of 93 Romanian providers. Six of them publish a monthly SEO fee, 16 packages in total. That is a small sample, but it shows clearly what goes into the packages, and that matters more than the final number.
What SEO services cost per month
I took each provider's cheapest package. Euro prices are converted at 1 euro = 5 lei.
- The lowest entry price is 500 lei a month, at an agency in Sfântu Gheorghe.
- Another provider starts at 600 lei a month.
- Three Bucharest agencies start at 490, 500 and 589 euros, roughly 2450 to 2950 lei.
- The most expensive entry plan is 3750 lei + VAT a month, also in Bucharest.
The median is 2475 lei. The top packages range from 1350 to 7800 lei a month.
One-off SEO work is sold too. On-site optimisation from 50 euros (up to 20 pages, Brașov) to 1600 lei (Sfântu Gheorghe), and a freelancer offering keyword strategy and an audit for 499 euros.
Most providers do not say whether VAT is included. If the quote does not state it, ask, because the difference is significant.
What is in the packages?
Packages get more expensive along two lines: how many keywords they track, and how much content and how many links they produce.
- Tracked keywords: 10–15 in entry plans, 25, 50 or more in the pricier ones.
- Articles: 1–4 blog posts a month, in some offers over 1500 or 2500 words each.
- Links: 3–5 a month, 8–12 in the top plan, or elsewhere 4–10 press releases a month.
- Reporting: a monthly PDF report at some, weekly in the most expensive plan.
The keyword count on its own says little. Fifty tracked keywords for a dentist in Miercurea Ciuc will mostly be phrases nobody searches for in a given month.
What should a small local business spend on?
If your customers come from one town or county, this order usually works.
The technical basics first. Does Google index every page, does each page have a unique title and description, is the site fast on mobile. This is a one-off job, and on many sites it is where most of the problems are.
Then the Google Business Profile. For local searches ("dentist Miercurea Ciuc") the map results appear above the websites. Filling in the profile, adding photos and collecting reviews costs nothing and often brings more than a month of SEO fees. I wrote a separate article about it.
Then content. Pages and articles that answer your customers' real questions. You can write them yourself if someone tells you what is worth covering.
Bought links come last, if at all. Press release bundles and mass link building can matter for national, highly competitive keywords. For a local business, one or two real links (a partner, an association, the local paper) are worth more.
How long until you see results?
I measure it on my own site. In mid-September 2026, Google showed the site 179 times in 28 days. By late October, after more than 100 new pages and articles, 3096 times. Clicks barely moved in the meantime: 22 in the last 28 days. New pages start out in positions 30–60, and it takes months for them to climb.
That is why an offer promising first place within a month is a red flag.
What to ask before you sign
- What exactly do they do each month, in hours or deliverables?
- Which keywords do they track, and how many people search for them?
- Where do the links come from? Ask for examples.
- Are the Search Console and Analytics accounts in your name, with your access?
- How long is the contract, and what stays with you if you cancel?
- Is the price with or without VAT?
Google has a short guide on this too, worth reading before you decide.
What I do
I do not sell a separate monthly SEO plan. Technical SEO (indexing, titles, speed, structured data) is part of every site I build, and in the Business plan of monthly maintenance I review Search Console and Rank Math errors every month. Exact fees are on the pricing page.
If you have an SEO quote and cannot tell whether it is worth it, send it to me and I will write back what I see in it.
