I built the Hy Society Global website on WordPress: the online showcase of an international VIP car enthusiast community, where the showroom presents classic, luxury and racing cars with spec sheets, the events page shows galleries of past gatherings, and the community section offers membership applications and a newsletter sign-up.

The challenge

Hy Society Global is an international VIP community for car enthusiasts: it sells rare classic and luxury cars and organises exclusive events, from Cars & Coffee meetups to an event during the Monaco Grand Prix. The website had to sell cars, present events and bring in new members at the same time, with a look that is credible to a premium audience.

The solution

  • A showroom built on WooCommerce: every car has its own spec sheet with year, mileage, engine, transmission, fuel type and colour, plus a photo gallery, organised by category (classic, luxury, racing) in a sortable list.
  • There is no cart for the cars: the "Reserve this car" button sends a reservation request, because a purchase of this value starts with a personal conversation.
  • An events page with upcoming occasions and galleries of past events.
  • Membership applications, a newsletter sign-up and a blog to grow the community.
  • A video home page and a premium, dark-toned look, on mobile too.

The result

The community shows everything it lives on in one place: the current car line-up, its events and the way to join. A new car or event is added from the admin, without a developer.

Why is the showroom not a web shop?

Nobody puts a 1957 Jaguar XK 150 or a Rolls-Royce Silver Spur in a cart. The showroom uses WooCommerce product management (spec sheets, categories, sorting, photo galleries), but instead of payment, the next step is a reservation request followed by a personal conversation. That keeps the line-up as easy to maintain as a web shop, while the buyer ends up in a conversation rather than on a checkout page.

The same experience online as at the events

Hy Society lives on the quality of its hospitality, and the website is the first encounter with the brand. The large images, the video home page and the restrained, dark palette carry the atmosphere guests get at the events. And the galleries of past events say more than any description: anyone who has not been yet can see what they are applying for.
