Business website development: what belongs on it, and what does not

The most common mistake is too many features. A business website usually needs seven pages: home, services, about, references, pricing or quote request, contact, and the legal pages. Anything beyond that typically goes unread while still costing you upkeep.

What often is missing, though it is needed: a real photograph of the business or the work, a concrete price or price bracket, and a clear next step at the end of every page. Those three decide whether a visitor becomes an enquiry.

Here two languages are a basic requirement. Your customer searches in the language they think in. If the site exists only in Hungarian or only in Romanian, the other half of your customers will not find you in search. So I build the language versions into the structure, with separate titles, descriptions and hreflang signals per language.

It stays yours

I build on WordPress, which runs roughly a quarter of the world’s websites. For you that means you are not tied to me: the domain, the hosting and the site are yours, you can edit the content yourself, and if you ever continue with another developer you will find one who knows the system.

I do not use rent-a-site platforms where stopping the monthly fee makes your site disappear.

What happens after launch

The work does not stop at handover. WordPress, the plugins and the security patches need continuous updating. Without it a site becomes vulnerable and slow within a few years. That is what the monthly care plans are for, but they are not mandatory. If you take it on yourself, I will show you what to watch.
