I contributed to the development of the Eurocars used car dealership website, with a car search feature.

The challenge

Eurocars is a used car dealership where the website's main job is the stock: the buyer wants to see which car is available now and at what price. And a dealer's stock changes constantly, so the system has to let the dealership add and remove vehicles itself, without a developer, potentially daily.

The solution

  • Vehicle search across the stock: the visitor can filter by type and parameters instead of scrolling an endless list.
  • Vehicle detail pages managed from the admin. Adding a new car and removing a sold one are the dealership's daily routine and need no development.
  • A bilingual build (Romanian-Hungarian), which in Harghita County is a baseline requirement.
  • Elementor-built subpages the dealership can also edit.
  • Mobile-friendly design: car searching happens predominantly on phones.

My contribution

I worked on the development side of this project, as a partner. Running the dealership and managing stock are of course the client's business.

The result

The dealership keeps its own stock current, and the buyer can filter the offering in their own language, from a phone. On a used car site, being up to date is the function itself: a car sold a month ago still sitting in the list destroys more trust than any design can build.

Stock: the real engine of the site

On a used car dealer's website, it matters more than the home page that adding a car takes two minutes rather than twenty. If uploading is awkward, the stock goes stale, and from then on the whole site loses credibility. So adding a car works like a form: make, model, year, mileage, fuel, gearbox, body type, price, photos. Every field is given, nothing has to be formatted or laid out. The listing page, the filters and the detail sheet are built from the same data, so if something changes it is corrected in one place.

Filtering the way buyers actually search

Buyers rarely browse a whole inventory. Either they know which make they want, or they know the body type and the price bracket. The site serves both directions: search by make, browse by body type, and alongside the cars the other categories (trailers, trikes) with their own filtering logic. This matters because someone looking for a trailer watches completely different parameters than someone looking at a passenger car; one shared filter system would be wrong for both.

Several lines of business on one site

The dealership does not only sell cars: there is a trailer range, service-type offerings and car rental. These got separate menu items, because the buying intent behind them differs: renting is usually an immediate need, buying a car a decision that takes weeks. At the same time they stayed on one site, under one name, so that trust is not split across several domains. Getting in touch is equally fast on every line: the buyer can send a message right where they are looking at that car or service.

Bilingual and mobile

In Harghita County a used car buyer may search in Romanian or in Hungarian, and almost certainly on a phone. The site was therefore built mobile first: the galleries, the filters and the detail sheets are designed for a small screen, not shrunk down from the desktop view. Fast loading matters a lot here: anyone who clicks an ad and waits three seconds goes back to the results list.
