I built the trilingual (RO/HU/EN) website of the Takács Winery on WordPress and WooCommerce: the winery, its philosophy and awards, the vineyard and the wine range, tasting bookings and an online store with wine packages. The design is elegant, fit for a premium wine brand.
The challenge
Takács Winery is a premium wine brand that has to speak to three audiences at once: Romanian buyers, the Hungarian market and international visitors. A product catalogue is not enough for a winery. When buying wine, the appearance is itself an argument, and the decision is also shaped by philosophy, awards and the story of the estate. On top of that, ordering and booking a tasting should both be possible on the same site.
The solution
- A trilingual WordPress build (Romanian, Hungarian, English) in which every wine and every piece of content is available in all three languages, not just the homepage.
- A WooCommerce shop with wine packages, so gifts and tasting sets can be ordered in one click.
- Tasting booking for visitors, matched to the winery's capacity.
- A premium look: large-format photography of the estate and the wines, restrained typography, a palette that fits the brand identity.
- A mobile-first build, because wine is often chosen on a phone, over dinner.
- Per-language search optimisation: separate titles and descriptions, hreflang signals, structured data on the wines.
The result
The winery introduces itself and sells on one site: the introduction, the wine range and ordering do not live in three different places. The trilingual setup is not a translation glued on afterwards but part of the structure, so all three markets find the wines in their own language in search too.
With wine, the story is product too
A bottle of wine is rarely bought on the spec sheet alone. The winery, the vineyard, the vintage and the maker are as much part of the decision as the grape and the price. So the site does not separate the introduction from the shop: the story of the place and of the making sits next to the wines, and the introduction leads through to the actual bottles. For a webshop that is an unusual structure, but with wine it is what sells.
A wine list that helps you choose
Buyers usually know the occasion rather than the grape: with what, for whom, at what price. So the range can be browsed by grape and vintage, and also by character and occasion, the way the buyer thinks. Every bottle has a description without winemaking jargon, written for someone who is not an expert but does not want to choose badly.
Three languages, three markets
The winery works with Hungarian, Romanian and English-speaking buyers, and the same text translated three times is not enough for them. Each language got its own URLs, its own titles and its own descriptions, so the wines are findable in search in all three markets. The language switcher goes to the counterpart of the current page: from a wine's page to that same wine's Romanian or English page, not to the home page.
Selling alcohol: what to watch
For a webshop selling alcohol some elements are mandatory: age verification, responsible-consumption information, shipping restrictions and the exact alcohol content are all part of the product page and the purchase flow. I built these into the structure instead of adding a notice afterwards. That way they cannot be missed when a new bottle is added either.
